Spiced Pear White Beans

The perfect complement to any vegan bbq, these sightly sweet beans will have you licking the bottom of your bowl. This recipe makes about 4 servings, but is easily doubled or tripled and cooked in a croc pot for those invitations to pot lucks that you’re not quite sure about…

Spiced Pear White Beans

Combine in a sauce pan (or croc pot):

  • 2 Tbsp vegan butter (I use earth balance)
  • 1 chopped ripe pear
  • 1 can great northern beans
  • 1/4 cup agave syrup
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 pinch salt (more to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp Penzey’s Pie Spice (or sub 2 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg)

Simmer on low, until sauce is thickened sightly and pears are softened. Garnish with a dash of cinnamon, if desired.
